A new bill has been put before US Congress that would require camera phones to make a noise or "click" whenever they are used to take a picture. The idea is to make it clear to everyone that the camera phone is being use as a camera. It's reported that this is to protect children / adolescents from being secretly photographed in dressing rooms and public places.
If the bill does become a law, any camera phones made in the US will be prohibited from eliminating or reduce the volume of the photo-taking noise/click. US will not be the first country to have such legislation. Japan already have features like this enabled by law.
Over to you now: Do you think this is necessary? Does your country have such law? Have you seen people attempting to secretly take pictures with their phone in public places?
